Improving Student Performance: A New Brunswick Challenge

“Education is vital to the progress of both individuals and [the Province] as a whole. It lays the foundation for success at work and throughout life and benefits the economy, society, and individual quality of life. Numerous studies indicate that well-educated citizens are better able to meet the demands of a modern economy, and are more likely to become productive, healthy, and participating members of society.”1 In 2017-2018, the cost of operating the school districts in the Province was over $1 billion. Public school education accounts for over 15% of total government expenditures in New Brunswick.
