As noted in the guide “Governance of Education in New Brunswick: Handbook for Members of District Education Councils, Volume 1.” (May 2021), it is important that decision-making authority and governance be provided by democratically elected local community volunteers who advocate for the improvement of the public education students receive. DECs, both Anglophone and Francophone, are essentially the community’s window to district operations and overall student performance.
